Update Mars Warhound No.3890- Venator Lupus, 12-4-18

Shadow has recently updated the photos for Venator Lupus.  The venerable Warhound now sports chipping damage on her chassis to reflect her many battles, and some additional honor decals will be on the way.  Pictures of the Titan Guard will follow once everything is finished.

UPDATED IMAGES

Her proud stance still dominates a battlefield, and one of her monikers is "Murder Puppy"

Her paint job continues to be chipped away by war while she awaits refit and repairs from the Mechanicus between war zones.

Even her carapace and generator banks bear new scars.

Walk After-Action Report -- Venator Lupus, MWH3890, Thanksgiving Massacre IV

++NOOSPHERE INTERFACE CONFIRMED++

++BIOMETRIC AND DATA SIGNATURES CONFIRMED++

++THE OMNISSIAH SEES ALL......WELCOME BACK TECH-PRIEST DOMINUS IVAN EUKATA++

Tech-Priest Dominus Ivan Eukata, Servant of the Omnissiah and Guardian of Venator Lupus, Legio Kurogane battle report summation initiated. Short form report only, for full information, further records will be provided. Titan Walk set in 990.M41, Imperial calendar. Verdant Worlds campaign. Apocalypse class engagement (7,000 points) Begin log. The Omnissiah protects.

Walk engagement upon planet deemed Secundus. Planet Tertius destroyed by Alpha Legion Traitor forces before the onset of the battle. Planet Primus elements covered by Iron Hands, Lions of Gladius [Sub Ref. Dark Angels Successors], Craftworld Amethyst, and Legio Astorum Reaver Titan against Ork [Sub Ref. Deff Dakka Clan] and Necron [Sub Ref. Sautek Dynasty] invasion. Secundus forces consist of Alpha Legion and Traitor Guardsmen opposition, and Legio Kurogane, Hunter Wolf [Sub Ref. Blood Angels Successors] Astartes, Sisters of Silence, and Officio Assasinorum Imperium Crusade forces.

I have had the distinction of being the Guardian of Venator Lupus for many years and continue to serve in such a capacity. As has been traditional since the Forge World Kurogane was saved by the Hunter Wolves Astartes, Venator continues to fight alongside the "Emperor's Finest" [Sub Ref. Astartes Arrogance]. In spite of their love of my nickname as The Bastard Priest, a title which I will admit to having earned, I was attached to the order of battle for the Verdant Worlds Campaign in order to protect and repair the venerable Warhound Titan as the need arose. Assisting in the fight were but a paltry sized Titan Guard consisting of Skitarii elements Theta Gamma Alpha and Theta Gamma Beta, Ranger and Vanguard class respectively. I shall petition the Lord Fabricator of Forge World Kurogane for further Ranger and Hoplite class Titan Guard in the future.

Deployment of our forces was rapid and precise, the first of us to take the field for the Imperium. Further Titan Guard reinforcements were unnecessary as the Fourth Company of the Hunter Wolves assisted in defending the Warhound and Acting Captain Markus marshaled his forces around the Titan without discussion from me, showing his knowledge of the history between Titan and the Fourth [Sub Ref. Fourth Company Defense of Forge World] in order to defend a mission critical asset.

The enemy, spread out to avoid the wrath of the venerable Warhound, felt its wrath anyway. The first shots of the battle, and indeed the first blood of the engagement on the whole went to Venator Lupus. Her early salvo wiping two Chaos tainted Sorcerers of the Alpha Legion from existence from the onset with her plasma blastgun, an unlucky traitor Guardsman being immolated from the immensity of the blast. Fire from her twin turbo was sent into an opposing Renegade Knight [Sub Ref. Nocris], severely damaging the Knight, but unable to destroy it. Venator could be heard giving a dissatisfied growl, and a temporary noospheric link to the Manifold also revealed the frustrated response of its Princeps [Sub Ref. Gaius Gladius, Senior Princeps]. The Astartes opened with their own salvo of heavy weaponry to assist against the vehicles arrayed against us, while First Company support [Sub Ref. Hunter Wolves, Gray Muzzles] took control of another section of the battlefield and their air support yet another section, ensuring the holding of mission objectives. Enemy fire was intense but focused almost solely upon the Hunter Wolves, posing no threat to Venator. Casualties were minimal. It was to be noted that a unit of Raptors from the Alpha Legion dropped in dangerously close to the Warhound.

The retaliation of the opposition did nothing to dampen the spirits of the Kurogane forces, such is our unshakable resolve in the Omnissiah. Seeking to earn her role as the queen of the battlefield, Princeps and Titan worked together on their next salvo to earn confirmed kills upon a Land Raider, traitor veteran guardsmen, two corrupted priests, an entire company command squad, fallen Commissar, and a Chimera transport. The two vehicles exploded in what most mortal and frail beings would call a spectacular fashion. All foes were scatted to dust and ash under the vicious onslaught. The Titan Guard did their duty, assisting the Hunter Wolves in attacking the Raptors that had descended through jump pack earlier. Theta Gamma Alpha, invoking their Doctrina Imperatives, were successful in reaping seven of the Raptors. Their unit alpha is to be commended for his leadership. Enemy return fire was innefective and only a small handful of Astartes were injured or killed. The enemy Raptors fired at and charged Theta Gamma Alpha, killing three of the Skitarii. In addition, it should be noted that the Thunderhawk Fenrir of the Hunter Wolves provided much needed assistance to defend Venator by firing its turbo laser cannon into the side of the Knight and killing it.

The enemy was already broken, but I gave orders to Senior Princeps Gladius to continue the fight. The plasma blastgun of the Warhound completely obliterated a unit of Havoc marines while the turbo was used to kill nearby rough-riders of the traitor guardsmen and and more of their veteran fighters. This effectively removed the last of the major threats upon the field of battle and the Hunter Wolves proceeded to mop up the last of the enemy forces. Acting Captain Markus of the Fourth Company swooped around behind the last remaining Raptor harrying the Titan Guard and slew him, spitting the traitor upon a lightning claw. Traitor fire failed to kill another servant of the Emperor and the Hunter Wolves systematically hunted down the remaining enemy forces while Princeps Gladius began to take up overwatch.

Combat effectiveness measured at 237.5 percent (killing 1,710 points to her 720 points of deployment), with no void shields dropped and no damage suffered. Venator Lupus earned 46 confirmed kills in combat. Zero structural damage taken, void shields are in full condition. Ready for return to Forge World Kurogane

Venator and her Titan Guard are ready for the battle and begin to hold objectives.

Tech-Priest Eukata next to his charge, ready to repair her if the need arises.

The Hunter Wolves deploy alongside the Warhound to assist.

Only for the enemy to realize that they got caught by a teleportation and drop assault based pincer movement and air support.

It got bloody, quickly, from there.

Walk After-Action Report -- Venator Lupus, MWH3890

++BEGIN DATA INLOAD++

++DATA UNCORRUPTED++

++THE OMNISSIAH PROTECTS......PRINCEPS DATA LOG RECORDS PROCEED++

Senior Princeps Gaius Gladius, Venator Lupus, Legio Kurogane battle report log initiated.  Walk log set in 999.M41, Imperial calendar. Belephron Wars engagement.  Apocalypse class engagement (10,000 points)  Begin report.

Note, Traitor forces presence confirmed upon Belephron I but did not engage due to immediate threats upon Belephron II where stationed and remained under both Mechanicus and Inquisitorial orders instead of requesting redeployment.  Threats consisted of Eldar forces and Tyranids upon Belephron II.  Full log begins now.

I, Senior Princeps of the Legio Kurogane, Gaius Gladius, had been assigned to a battlegroup of Adeptus Astartes from the Hunter Wolves Chapter, en route to Baal for the defense of their Primarch's home system to aid the Blood Angels Chapter.  The Legio Kurogane has pledged support in this fight in order to protect a major Astartes home world and bastion of hope for the Imperium of Man.  Piloting Venator Lupus, the engine so named for the very Hunter Wolves themselves, I was assigned to provide support to the Fourth Company and assist the Hunter Wolves with the defense of the Belephron System first in order to prevent further Tyranid reinforcements from reaching Baal.  Following the battle, orders were to move on with the Fourth Company to Baal for that defensive action as well.

Venator and I were among the second wave of forces to land upon Belephron II, our forces having already discovered the Genestealer taint upon the now doomed planet, but before the bulk of the Tyranid forces arrived.  Initial actions undertaken at the beginning of the campaign were simply to watch my Titan Guard dispatch Genestealers that had the audacity to attempt to charge them, little more than probing attacks that saw them cut down.  I would have to ensure that the Skitarii Alpha in charge of those units would be commended later on for their bravery.  After doing a few small patrols and determining no major enemy threats were upon the battlefield, I maneuvered Venator Lupus into a section of the now ruined mining complex and powered down her reactor to the minimum needed, also allowing the Moderati time to rest.

The actions of Inquisitor Erik Faulkaunus in the nesting grounds of the Patriarch stirred the Tyranids into action and the Genestealers boiled out of the mines en mass.  To further complicate the situation the Hive Fleet began dropping its troops to the planet's surface.  The Moderati quickly got Venator  up to full battle readiness and the engagement began.

Just as the Hunter Wolves forces were dropping in the Moderati assisted me with gaining firing solutions for both the turbo and plasma weaponry.  A twitch of my right hand sent plasma screaming down the right flank of the battlefield and incinerated Tyranid Warriors and an unlucky Gargoyle that was nearby, their bodies burning under the living flame.  Continuing to target that area due to a nearby Carnifex Brood, the firing solution gained by my Moderati held true and I pulled my fingers tight in the approximation of pulling a trigger.  Laser fire erupted from my...Venator's...left arm and more of the nearby Warriors were turned to dust while the target Carnifex brood was severely injured, one of them vaporizing cleanly under the onslaught of weaponry.

Oddly, Venator was completely untargeted by enemy forces throughout the engagement in spite of the shear punishment we were raining down upon the foe.  There should be much credit given to the Hunter Wolves in spite of their tumultuous relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus.  They were quite instrumental in protecting us and heavily assisted the Titan Guard in keeping Venator from being boarded.

As a result of the freedom to fire without issue and based on further firepower eliminating my previous targets, the Moderati assisted with selecting additional targets.  The Wraithknight that had just come in the targeting sights of the turbo was suddenly obliterated by the Hunter Wolves Thunderhawk Fenrir, depriving me of a fine kill.  However, all is important in the service of the Emperor and it allowed my guns to free once more.  Further fire saw the obliteration of a Wraithlord of one of the Eldar forces in the battle, the turbo completely obliterating it from existence and carving a furrow in the ground, while plasma fire burned Genestealers to ash.

In spite of the tide of battle changing back and forth multiple times, the Hunter Wolves proved victorious on Belephron II, breaking the enemy and routing them, chasing them down the field.  While they did so, Venator's spirit pushed upon me and she and I gave to the moment of war and continued to kill even the smallest of foes with relish while we could.  Orders from the Mechanicus bade me to stay in the complex and so I did in time.  We now await transit to the Baal System to defend the Blood Angels homeworld.

Combat effectiveness measured at 70 percent due to the stolen Wraithknight kill, with 17 confirmed kills in combat.  Zero structural damage taken, void shields are in full condition.  Ready for redeployment.  A full account of the battle can be obtained from Chapter Command of the Hunter Wolves.

++PICT INLOADS FORTHCOMING++

The start of the battle sees a small defensive cordon in Venator Lupus' sector of the engagement.  Her Titan Guard are in the building in front of her.

Only for it to be heavily reinforced by the bulk of the army.  The old girl gets to fire with impunity.

Update: Mars Warhound No3890. Venator Lupus is complete!

Hello everyone. Venator Lupus is complete.

{I really love how the flat areas on this Titan have been broken up with the techniques in the painting, I would love to see you have a full maniple one day in these colours T.O.C}

The decals from FW were worth every bit.  The Senior Princeps badge looks great next to the Titan's name and the warning decals are just perfect.  In case you're curious, the eagle shin guard has GRAIA on it because Forge World Kurogane itself is unable to produce its own Titans.  The Forge World receives the Titan frames from Graia and inducts them into the Legio Kurogane.  I'm beyond excited about how this has turned out.  A second Warhound is DEFINITELY on the list of wants now and maybe some of the Blood Angels upgrades they released recently.

A mean looking Warhound! The paint scheme complements the Warhound so well.

Princeps iconography.

A great stance.

 Weapons are raised for the kill.

 The large panels are broken up by the painting techniques used.

Internals

A great looking Engine, hope there will be more of Legio Kurogane in the future.
