Comments: I give myself a score of 0 for originality on the colors XD. But between being nearly black and white colorblind and the frankly beautiful scheme Forge World came up with, I think I'm happy I decided to stick with the Legio Astorum. Plus, our gaming group is intending to recreate the battle for Terra, and as legend tells it, the Warp Runners were there!

This project has taken me about 3 months to complete to this point. I still have yet to complete the crew. However, even un-manned, for it's first walk over the last weekend Viduus was able to eliminate an archenemy scout class titan, an archenemy plague tower, a Necron lord of war, along with several infantry and non-super heavy vehicle kills before being brought down by an archenemy warlord class Titan. Its sacrifice ensured victory for the forces of the Emperor and repairs are currently underway to bring her back to her original glory.

Perfect execution of a Warp Runner. A beautiful engine to say the least.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful Engine, a very worthy addition to the Legio Astorum! Great stuff, looking forward to the Warhounds, and eventually a Warlord perhaps? ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Ii still need to paint up the princeps and co. to go along with him. And I'm most likely going to be adding a base. I had the displeasure of watching a friend break his warlord in half as it fell to the floor due to wobbly model syndrome. While viduus is certainly stable on his own two feet, i just think it might be good to add him to a base for stability.
ReplyDelete@BigJon: Thanks for the kind words!
@Siph_Hhorridus: The warhounds will probably be a one-a-year purchase (next year is almost here, maybe forgeworld gets a order form at 1 am January 1st? haha) as for a warlord, as all of us on here would agree, it is a beautiful kit, but it might be a while before i can justify that type of price tag!
This is a very beautiful engine and it's awe inspiring in its own right. I really like the carapace work, especially since on the Reaver it is one of the most visually appealing elements of that Titan class and needs a lot of care and attention.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome, sir. Your interiors are flawless, and the whole thing is really nicely detailed and executed!
ReplyDeleteYIKES about the broken warlord, that hurts just to hear.
Thanks shadow. I'm glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteDan: as soon as it fell the whole room went silent for what felt like an eternity. Fortunately he should be able to fix it so it doesn't look like it ever happened. But why tempt fate? I'd rather have the piece of mind knowing viduus is stable
Yep, I hear that. I have a Warhound I thought was pretty stable that took a swan dive off a bookshelf not long ago. I was really glad I'd used JB weld and pinned. The damage was negligible but it was a nasty moment and has me rethinking based on Titans.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, can I ask how you did the scrollwork on the carapace and knee plate? I'm working on a Reaver myself. I laid down a base coat of Rakarth and stained it with sepia, but I was going more for what you have here - looks a lot more like parchment to my eye. If you feel like sharing that would be awesome!
Certainly sir! Actually those two two paints were the first steps I used, once this was finished, I used a winsor newton dark brown ochre oil paint and mixed it liberally with white spirit. I applied that and let it dry for at least 24 hrs. then sponged on both storm fur vermin and balar brown. Finally I highlighted with bleached bone. Basically I just followed the steps laid out in the second master class book. (I did say I gave myself an originality score of 0 after all haha)
ReplyDeleteNice! Thank you so much! I really need to look through the masterclass books again!
ReplyDeleteOriginality 0 whatever - Viduus looks awesome. Your execution is really amazing.
