++THE OMNISSIAH SEES ALL......WELCOME BACK TECH-PRIEST DOMINUS IVAN EUKATA++
Tech-Priest Dominus Ivan Eukata, Servant of the Omnissiah and Guardian of Venator Lupus, Legio Kurogane battle report summation initiated. Short form report only, for full information, further records will be provided. Titan Walk set in 990.M41, Imperial calendar. Verdant Worlds campaign. Apocalypse class engagement (7,000 points) Begin log. The Omnissiah protects.
Walk engagement upon planet deemed Secundus. Planet Tertius destroyed by Alpha Legion Traitor forces before the onset of the battle. Planet Primus elements covered by Iron Hands, Lions of Gladius [Sub Ref. Dark Angels Successors], Craftworld Amethyst, and Legio Astorum Reaver Titan against Ork [Sub Ref. Deff Dakka Clan] and Necron [Sub Ref. Sautek Dynasty] invasion. Secundus forces consist of Alpha Legion and Traitor Guardsmen opposition, and Legio Kurogane, Hunter Wolf [Sub Ref. Blood Angels Successors] Astartes, Sisters of Silence, and Officio Assasinorum Imperium Crusade forces.
I have had the distinction of being the Guardian of Venator Lupus for many years and continue to serve in such a capacity. As has been traditional since the Forge World Kurogane was saved by the Hunter Wolves Astartes, Venator continues to fight alongside the "Emperor's Finest" [Sub Ref. Astartes Arrogance]. In spite of their love of my nickname as The Bastard Priest, a title which I will admit to having earned, I was attached to the order of battle for the Verdant Worlds Campaign in order to protect and repair the venerable Warhound Titan as the need arose. Assisting in the fight were but a paltry sized Titan Guard consisting of Skitarii elements Theta Gamma Alpha and Theta Gamma Beta, Ranger and Vanguard class respectively. I shall petition the Lord Fabricator of Forge World Kurogane for further Ranger and Hoplite class Titan Guard in the future.
Deployment of our forces was rapid and precise, the first of us to take the field for the Imperium. Further Titan Guard reinforcements were unnecessary as the Fourth Company of the Hunter Wolves assisted in defending the Warhound and Acting Captain Markus marshaled his forces around the Titan without discussion from me, showing his knowledge of the history between Titan and the Fourth [Sub Ref. Fourth Company Defense of Forge World] in order to defend a mission critical asset.
The enemy, spread out to avoid the wrath of the venerable Warhound, felt its wrath anyway. The first shots of the battle, and indeed the first blood of the engagement on the whole went to Venator Lupus. Her early salvo wiping two Chaos tainted Sorcerers of the Alpha Legion from existence from the onset with her plasma blastgun, an unlucky traitor Guardsman being immolated from the immensity of the blast. Fire from her twin turbo was sent into an opposing Renegade Knight [Sub Ref. Nocris], severely damaging the Knight, but unable to destroy it. Venator could be heard giving a dissatisfied growl, and a temporary noospheric link to the Manifold also revealed the frustrated response of its Princeps [Sub Ref. Gaius Gladius, Senior Princeps]. The Astartes opened with their own salvo of heavy weaponry to assist against the vehicles arrayed against us, while First Company support [Sub Ref. Hunter Wolves, Gray Muzzles] took control of another section of the battlefield and their air support yet another section, ensuring the holding of mission objectives. Enemy fire was intense but focused almost solely upon the Hunter Wolves, posing no threat to Venator. Casualties were minimal. It was to be noted that a unit of Raptors from the Alpha Legion dropped in dangerously close to the Warhound.
The retaliation of the opposition did nothing to dampen the spirits of the Kurogane forces, such is our unshakable resolve in the Omnissiah. Seeking to earn her role as the queen of the battlefield, Princeps and Titan worked together on their next salvo to earn confirmed kills upon a Land Raider, traitor veteran guardsmen, two corrupted priests, an entire company command squad, fallen Commissar, and a Chimera transport. The two vehicles exploded in what most mortal and frail beings would call a spectacular fashion. All foes were scatted to dust and ash under the vicious onslaught. The Titan Guard did their duty, assisting the Hunter Wolves in attacking the Raptors that had descended through jump pack earlier. Theta Gamma Alpha, invoking their Doctrina Imperatives, were successful in reaping seven of the Raptors. Their unit alpha is to be commended for his leadership. Enemy return fire was innefective and only a small handful of Astartes were injured or killed. The enemy Raptors fired at and charged Theta Gamma Alpha, killing three of the Skitarii. In addition, it should be noted that the Thunderhawk Fenrir of the Hunter Wolves provided much needed assistance to defend Venator by firing its turbo laser cannon into the side of the Knight and killing it.
The enemy was already broken, but I gave orders to Senior Princeps Gladius to continue the fight. The plasma blastgun of the Warhound completely obliterated a unit of Havoc marines while the turbo was used to kill nearby rough-riders of the traitor guardsmen and and more of their veteran fighters. This effectively removed the last of the major threats upon the field of battle and the Hunter Wolves proceeded to mop up the last of the enemy forces. Acting Captain Markus of the Fourth Company swooped around behind the last remaining Raptor harrying the Titan Guard and slew him, spitting the traitor upon a lightning claw. Traitor fire failed to kill another servant of the Emperor and the Hunter Wolves systematically hunted down the remaining enemy forces while Princeps Gladius began to take up overwatch.
Combat effectiveness measured at 237.5 percent (killing 1,710 points to her 720 points of deployment), with no void shields dropped and no damage suffered. Venator Lupus earned 46 confirmed kills in combat. Zero structural damage taken, void shields are in full condition. Ready for return to Forge World Kurogane

Venator and her Titan Guard are ready for the battle and begin to hold objectives.
Tech-Priest Eukata next to his charge, ready to repair her if the need arises.
The Hunter Wolves deploy alongside the Warhound to assist.
Only for the enemy to realize that they got caught by a teleportation and drop assault based pincer movement and air support.
It got bloody, quickly, from there.

The Collegia Titanica pin next to her right foot was actually worn during the game as a sign of her commander. It's a fun tradition at this point to wear that when I run my Titan.
ReplyDeleteLove the write up, and the bit about combat efficiency made me chuckle. She did really well this walk! I wouldn't mind hearing more about "the Bastard Priest," sounds like quite a character!
ReplyDeleteThat's her second straight game killing over 1,700 points worth of stuff. There's no way a little Warhound should kill 1,000 points above her actual cost. My opponents are kind enough to let me track her kills and points because they know Venator is one of my "living models" and that I take pride in what she does and the fluff of the 40k universe. That's why the efficiency rating is so good, as far as this Tech-Priest is concerned, she kills far above her relative value and therefore exceeds 100 percent.
DeleteWhat would you like to know about Ivan Eukata? There is an update article later on officially tied to Venator that will show off him and the Titan Guard. I can work it into that.
Nice! I want to know how he got his name!
DeleteThanks again for the write up, very entertaining!
Wow, you have an amazing history of combat efficiency. I've heard you speak very lovingly about Ventator and it's status as a living model, but this definitely must be a proud father moment. 😊
ReplyDeleteI'm very proud of what my "Murder Puppy", one of the two nicknames my opponents have given her, accomplished Saturday. It honestly didn't feel like she tore THAT much up, but she did. She fights hard and gets results. Her only game of not getting her points back was last year at the Thanksgiving Massacre III, but a lot of that was other elements taking the fight to the enemy with her in a massive support role. I'm still just stunned that in two straight games she's killed well above her points and killed 1,000 above that value.
DeleteAnd I cannot speak enough about how well her Titan Guard did in order to keep her guns going. Those little Skitarii fought their tails off.
Out of curiosity, have you tried the peltasts and hoplites yet? AdMech is my main army. I like the Troops, but I am really excited for these guys as Elites. I have had some success with Inflitrators but almost none with Ruststalkers, so I defiantly don't mind switching things up a bit and seeing how Titan Guard do instead. The Peltasts look especially crazy, with the rate of fire they have and the ability to give their charge a cover save once per game.
DeleteSadly, I need to still buy the base Skitarii box. I have the Hoplite upgrades, though. I look forward to trying them out.
DeleteHey Shadow, you make reference to additional forces being present, i.e. the Reaver Titan of the Legio Astorum. Is this in reference to a previous game? Or am I simply misunderstanding the statement. In any case, what a fantastic battle report! Congrats on the continued carnage!
ReplyDeleteHey Jesse. I was actually on table Secundus against two opponents. The other players were on table Primus. Primus featured an old Armourcast Reaver, 2 Wraithknights, an Imperial Knight, a Tesseract Vault, and a Stompa. That table got bloody and vicious.
DeleteAh right on. That makes more sense!
DeleteShe does look glorious. The Skitarii look great too. 1710 pts of damage is pretty damn awesome too especially when she emerged unscathed.
ReplyDeleteMy opponents really didn't prioritize their targets too well. Oddly, it wasn't Venator that made the affair so one sided (despite killing 24.4% of the enemy's points total on her own), but the flyers I brought. When they failed to take out my air support it really just let me run roughshod over the table as I started to kill the bulk of the things that could hurt Venator. She took advantage of it and laid waste to groupings of infantry with the plasma blastgun and butchered vehicles with the turbo. I honestly think I hit on the most flexible of the Warhound loadouts and it's a very powerful one.
