Behind the Scenes - Why Don't You [Insert Here] ?

We're pulling the curtain back a bit today so that you can see a bit more of what we do at Titan Owners Club.  This time, it's about those FAQs of a sort where we get asked why we just don't do certain things.

Q: Why don't you accept Armorcast Titans?

A: This one doesn't come up as much as it used to, but it's worth answering again.  Armorcast is an older system that predates the Titans made by Forge World and no longer holds a licensing agreement.  While they do have certificates on the box, many people never thought about it and many of the original boxes have since been destroyed.  Not to mention there are so many recasts of Armorcast out there we just can't AWOC them.

While that is a major reason, there is also a more simple one: from day one we have said that TOC is about the registration and databasing of Forge World and Citadel produced models.

Q: Why can't I update my own pages myself?

A: Security, consistency, and privacy.  To be able to update the pages means being on our Blogger service and opens up a million versions of Pandora's Box when everyone has access.  Simply put, we do all of the work so that chaos cannot slip its bonds and everyone gets a consistent and protected experience on the blog.

Q: Can I help?

A: We actually like this question when we are swamped.  Even then, though, we have enough staff to handle things even when dealing with an avalanche.  We really do appreciate the thought though, and you guys and gals always prove why TOC membership is the best.

Q: Can I register my Adeptus Titanicus Titans?

A: While it's true they are Citadel produced miniatures they are not what our core coverage is about.  We do, however, enjoy showing off Adeptus Titanicus and using its rules to guide our events.  In the future we might do some extra AT coverage, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Q: Why don't you attend NOVA, AdeptiCon, other cons?

A: This is become increasingly asked and is currently THE most asked question right now.  The reasons are varied and it's always a combination of them wanting us to drop our certificated engine requirement (our core mission), relaxing our standards, interfering with our event format, or wanting a lot of money that we just can't put up since we aren't a business.  We don't find these terms favorable or acceptable in any way and we choose to maintain our core values.  If the "perfect storm" of favorable or acceptable conditions happens we'll certainly look into it.

Q: Why doesn't my nation have events?

A: Every time a nation hits 15 or more Titans we look at starting a Branch there, which would allow it to have events.  If we hit the Titan threshold and it looks like there are enough members (about seven or more) then we're really rolling.  The Branch develops and they have a representative that works with Shadow and Drake to run the show in that country.  At that point, you get a Walk event in your home country.  So it's kind of a good thing to have your friends and wargaming buddies register.

There you go, six of the most commonly asked questions that we get regarding why we don't do certain things.  You're always welcome to ask us questions whenever you want and we'll answer them when we have time.
