Not an Imperator, but not a Warlord variant. Brand. New. TITAN! The Warmaster is indeed based on an old sketch like Siph had uncovered and today we know more about it.
The Warmaster fits a role between the Imperator and the Warlord and is considered a "Heavy Battle Titan" meaning that it's designed to handle the meanest of the mean. Armed with the Revelator Missile Launcher and two Suzerain-class Plasma Destructors, this thing means business. And what more needs be said when it has a knee lascannon, extra missile launchers, AND anti-air weaponry?
This thing is absolutely huge! WarCom was kind enough to give us a scale image.
We're also getting a Loyalist Legions supplement, packed with all of the rules and background for 16 Loyalist Titan Legions and 12 Loyalist Knight Households. Later in 2021 we're also slated to get the Traitor Legions supplement, so no one will be left out due to their allegiance.
Armpit Missile Banks or Turbolasers as an extra option... madness haha. Love it, hopefully this will translate to 28mm, probably the biggest they can make at 28mm due to physical weight issues.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what to think about this. Looking at the design and size of this thing it is what I would expect an Imperator to be if one removes all the 90th silliness from it. I guess the design team could not make that so due to the cult status of the walking city. Disregarding this I see some very peculiar design choices. The "arm pit" weapon mounts does not make any engineering sense as they are structurally weakening the shoulders that would need their full strength to carry up those enormous arm weapons. And I do not get how that missile rack on the back works as there is no clear indication from what position a missile could be fired and how the revolver magazine would feed that position and hence why a revolver type magazine would be needed. Then we have the support struts of the legs. I guess that came straight from the sketch without any though to functionality. The only function I can see them having is to improve the legs ability to swing outward which would have made some sense on a light titan made for acrobatics. But for this heavy platform I can not see them helping with any thing. Would have been better to go for a multi piston thigh like the Reaver instead. In plastic I think all these things might be somewhat easy to address but if this ever makes it over to 28 mm... well that will be another matter.
ReplyDeleteI’m with you with armpit weapons... but I like the Legs on this, but yes the 28mm scale if made I think will need some bolstering of the thighs and knees under that armour. I think this is made for 28mm as the biggest Engine possible before weight becomes the over riding factor, a hollow torso similar to Warlord is needed.
DeleteI have to agree with armpit weapons, odd design choice, would have been better placed as a carapace weapons instead, i would like to see this in 28mm scale aswell, but the question is would it be feasible due to the weight, even with a hollow torso, its going to weigh alot more then the warlord, but im not an engineer so i dont know what kind of tolorences resin has or specifically the tolorences for FW resin, Also pricing, surely this would be reaching or even breaching the £2k mark
Delete@Siph. If it is made for 28 mm it might be as you say, on the limit of what the resin can take. As it is the resin is not an ideal material for making load supporting structures. The fact that it easily bends if heated slightly (hair dryer) makes it dubious that even if it stand up in a 20 deg room that it would on a hot summer day if the temp is going for 35+ deg (already have that problem with lighter titans).
Delete@Malus; I agree, would have been better to make shoulder mounts, then the normal Warlord weapons would have worked. Generally I think they should have made a few standard mounts on the titans so that all weapons for that mount could be used on any titan with the same mount. As for weight. I feel that even the warlord is so heavy that it becomes risky moving it about. This would be very tricky indead.
But over all I think it is nice that they do make new designs and not just stick with the classic trio, and that they are keeping clear of some of the more exotic designs. Even if it is sci-fi I like when the design is at least somewhat believable as a functional design.
Aside from the odd design choices, I am already saving up for the 28mm version. I think this is fascinating and I look forward to adding some custom designs to it. Ira Deorum needs a big sister. Super cool to see a new TITAN CLASS!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I guess around £1750 GBP looking at the mass compared to Warlord (all up £1300 GBP), with Plasma Weapons but hopefully new Arm Weapons will come in time too. Thats if 28mm one comes...
