Princeps Dan has sent in an update with his Legio Defensor Warhound Titan now COMPLETED -
So with the legs finished it was onto the internals! This took a very long time to complete as, with painting the parts separately, I was maybe painting areas that wouldn’t be seen, but at least I knew they were done.
I went for a relatively basic scheme across the area that I would be able to replicate across other areas of the titan, and also on future titans.
Finally it was onto the weapons, which compared to the rest of the model, were an absolute breeze to paint, I managed to finish them in one weekend!I went for a relatively basic scheme across the area that I would be able to replicate across other areas of the titan, and also on future titans.
Next was gluing it all together. While JBWeld was able to fill in a lot of the gaps, they ended up being larger than I anticipated and so had to be filled in with Milliput, as you can see from the below photo, after filing down the Milliput, I had to paint over areas of the internals again. (If I get another Warhound, I may decided to do this step differently).
I know a lot of the pipes in the vents would be covered, but again, I at least knew they were done and I also painted the internal lights on a dim fade. (If I decided to airbrush the area to make it look like they were on, I would have to go back and create an OSL on all the internal parts which I didn’t want to do!)
After that it was onto the carapace. I had completed this year ago, but in a rush and had damaged the paintwork which I was unable to fix without striping the part completely and starting again. Thankfully you can’t see much of the damage from the stripping and filing and its come out quite well!

This just left the head! I’d left this head as I found all the dials etc. too intimidating to complete. But given it was the only thing left to say the Warhound was finished, I now had to do it. I started on two Moderati and the top half of the head as I found them to easiest to do.I then finally braced myself and got the dials and screens completed, copying what I had used in the body so it all ties together and also finished the Princeps, who took longer than the rest of the head combined.
Then finally, after over 3 years of blood, sweat and tears, NOCTIS LUPUS WALKS!!!
I’m incredibly proud of the finished product and can’t wait to start working on more titans in Defensor colours. Onto a Reaver next!
