Titan Literature Review - Broken Lance

Warhammer+ brings us a new animation this week in Broken Lance, an animation years in the waiting.

TITAN LITERATURE REVIEW
Story: Broken Lance
Format: Warhammer+ Animation
Length: 30 minutes

Source: warhammer-community.com
The Plot:  The Knights of House Corvek fight for their people and their honour against an implacable foe.  However, is there more to this fight than just the chivalry of Knights?
Titan Focus: Titan focus - zero.  Knight focus - full tilt.  The 30-minute episode of Broken Lance is all about the Knights of House Corvek and a battle against the forces of Nurgle, including corrupted Knights.  Knights of almost every stripe from the Questoris and Armiger chassis are in the show.  The weapons, the slow speed of these massive walkers, and the internals of the cockpit all match what you'd expect of this heavy metal experience.  This is definitely a Knight war that delivers a wonderful experience and a visual feast of metal-on-metal carnage.  Additionally, Knights outside of their armor are shown and the politics of the house are on display, bringing known lore to the screen.
Score: 4/5 Cogs
Final Thoughts: It's hard to believe this animation came from the same studio that produced The Exodite.  This animation was CONSIDERABLY better.  However, we have to knock it for once again being only 30 minutes of total viewing time and having absolutely atrocious volume control, which was our biggest complaint with The Exodite.  You'll constantly be raising the volume by 50% to hear characters speaking, then knocking it back to normal for the battle scenes.  We also have to wonder why there was no inclusion of any Dominus Knights or the Lancer that is shown at one point.  Overall, the wait was probably too long for just a single episode, but we are left wanting more and with an ending that provides an opportunity for a less noble venture.  Broken Lance was a good way to start 2024 for Warhammer+ and delivers a mech vs mech brawl that feels like Knights and intrigue should.
