Big thank you to Games Workshop for sending us the new Blood Angels Army Box as a free review copy. With us having shut down Adeptus Titanicast and the associated Extras series, we wanted to return to our roots for these reviews - how some of these fit the wider world we play in or how they interact with our Titans. Today, the Sons of Baal bare their fangs and show us their wrath.
Very reminiscent of the Angels of Death animation.
But also in full color.
This set is packed with plastic goodness. It features 10 Assault Intercessors, 10 Assault Intercessors with jump packs, a Brutalis Dreadnought, a new Lemartes, and a new Astorath. In addition, the box comes with four of the brand new Blood Angels upgrade sprue so you can create the black-clad armored killers of the Death Company (or regular Blood Angels, who are we kidding).
This sprue comes with the Death Company's eviscerator option (glad to see this returning on Marines in some form), several sculpted shoulder pads for a variety of armor types, head options, and vehicle icons.
Lemartes, Guardian of the Lost gets his third generation model but the first in plastic. This storied character has aged well but it's nice to see this character get an upgrade.
Anyone who ever built the old Astorath the Grim new a thing or two about curse words. Being reborn in plastic will certainly make the build that much easier. And the detail is amazing!
It wouldn't be an army box set without a codex now, would it? This book includes a limited edition cover version of the Codex Space Marines supplement for the Blood Angels, replete with metallic red gilt edging for the pages, perfect to match the Red Thirst.
And finally, the datasheets for the units in the codex. Some of the biggest threats to your Titans, the Furioso Dreadnought and Librarian Dreadnought have been removed, but units that can absolutely crush your supporting infantry have stuck around, including the venerable Baal Predator. We'll provide a more in-depth article on what your Titans should be watching out for in the future, but suffice it to say this is an amazing release and a good start for the scions of The Angel.
