Up to date image. Bone Garland is coming along nicely. Have weathered the shoulder pads with Martian ironearth to show under paint rusting. These will be painted shortly.
Here are my Work in Progress shots of Bone Garland's fancy pants.
His front shin pants have had one layer of Brass.
I have also worked on the knee pads:
I had to put lots of mini squares on to one knee to make chequers:
Note the chequers are the first time I have ever done them and from start to final result it took 1hr and 10mins. No excuses guys, it wasn't that difficult :)
How I painted.
I did these by painting them Gal Vorbak red:
Then airbrushed Word Bearer red in a Zenithal natural shading method (brighter at top where light will hit it).
A nice coat of Angron red which is a clear paint.
Using hot breath and a scalpel I removed the masking tape. Note I have got some under paint rusting on the below pad (not mistakes)
Don't forget to like us on Facebook. If you have a Titan why not add it to Titan Owners Club.
Love the under rust effect, and great diamond pattern on the knee
ReplyDeleteDrake, do you use JB Weld liquid steel or plastic weld?
ReplyDeleteHi Siph. Currently there is no pins on this engine but lots of JB Weld. Scaring me more and more now with the weight on top feeling like a small child!! What do you use?
DeleteDrake, so far construction is pinned heavily and Araldite 2 part resin and hardener but I've bought some JB Plastic Weld and will try that on some offcut vents first to see if it sticks as strong. Araldite seems to have a little give and I defo think pinning in the hips and knees will be essential? And into the foot from below up into the ankle ball? I haven't started yet so you know better than me!
DeleteHi. I did JB weld on every main connection. It feels solid but all them people out there pinning can't be wrong hey. Going to drill the knees and neck connection soon. Can't wait for the other head though now.
DeleteAnd Drake, is this Warlord 58 or 54? Or do you have two? Lol
ReplyDeleteIt's 58. I had 54 in my mind as was thinking ably a RAF squadron for some reason. Thanks for pointing that out.
DeleteHi Drake, looking 'lovely' (if lovely means annihilating you enemies with extreme predjudice). Will you be adding texture to the black panels? The look quite flat and cry for more depth.
ReplyDeleteHi Col. Yes I will be. I have a muddy oil wash and buff up technique lined up that Forge World's Paul Rudge used for his. It will cover the brass too. Then chipping, airbrush weathering of dirt and a few streaks too :)
DeleteLong long long way to go.
Thumbs way up.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Whenever I've used masking tape, I've found the paint has 'bled' underneath at the edges - buy yours looks perfect! Am in doing something wrong?
