Welcome back to our coverage of the Adeptus Titanicus
supplement Titandeath. The meat of the book is the Titan Legions
presented in their glory with new rules, strategems, and wargear available to
represent eight of the most prominent forces that fought in the Beta-Garmon
cluster, as well as new maniples to be used in your games. These fifty pages form the bulk of the book.
THE TITAN LEGIONS
The supplement provides rules for:
·
The Warp Runners, the Legio Astorum
·
The Nova Guard, the Legio Defensor
·
The Firebrands, the Legio Atarus
·
The Imperial Hunters, the Legio Solaria
·
The Death Heads, the Legio Mortis
·
The God Breakers, the Legio Krytos
·
The Tiger Eyes, the Legio Fureans
·
The Death Stalkers, the Legio Vulpa
Four Loyalist Legios, and four Traitor Legios. Each is given a quick blurb about what makes
them special along with a full page of rules, strategems, and traits. Some of the Legios were also given unique
equipment. We’ve included brief
descriptions of each Legio to give you a taste of what is coming.
ASTORUM
·
Sorry Astorum, no teleporting for you (You can
probably hear Shadow hissing in the background)
·
Astorum focuses on veteran Princeps tactica
and being able to push engines hard, as well as repairs to deal with the early
damage they’ll take
DEFENSOR
·
Legio Defensor, the Nova Guard, are adherents
to the Imperial Creed, which can manifest in ignored damage
·
Nova Guard reflects a stubborn nature that is
also quick to anger
ATARUS
·
Atarus, the Firebrands are impetuous,
headstrong, and independent
·
Their big draw is in taking the first actions
·
They also gain special incendiary missiles
IMPERIAL HUNTERS
·
The Imperial Hunters focus on wolf-pack
tactics, allowing Warhounds to replace Reavers as compulsory units and fielding
increased sizes within Warhound squads
MORTIS
·
The Legio Mortis reflects crews that are
methodical killers.
·
They have traits that reward engine kills and
allow for pain to be temporarily bypassed
KRYTOS
·
Krytos, the God Breakers, were known to be
excessive in their pursuit of Compliance and have a love for overkill
·
They may replace a Reaver in a Myrmidon with a
Warlord instead
FUREANS
·
The Tiger Eyes, Legio Fureans, possess crews
that operate on pure aggression.
·
Their engines are more prone to Awakened
Machine Spirits, and they can bide their time early on to gain re-rolls for an
aggressive push later
·
While melee-oriented in the lore, they are not
your premier melee Titan Legion in the rules, though they can still do so
effectively
VULPA
·
The Death Stalkers, Legio Vulpa, reflects
crews of cruelty and the desire to rend enemies up close
·
This Legio experiences buffs to Weapon Skill
and debuffs to Shooting Skill when close to enemies
THE MANIPLES
Aside from rules for eight Titan Legions, this section of
the book provides players with four new maniples that can be used in any
games. These maniples include:
·
Corsair maniples bring 3-5 Reavers with an
emphasis on mobility even when not moving forward, while maintaining sizeable
firepower
·
Janissary maniples bring a Reaver and two
Warhounds, with the option to add one more of each, and allow for paired
movement with Knight allies
·
The Regia maniple contains 2 Warlords and a
Warhound, with the option to add two more Warhounds, allowing the Warlords
support for Command Checks and the Warhounds to merge void shields with
Warlords
·
The Lupercal maniples are 3-5 Warhounds and
allow for increased squad sizes and armor roll bonuses when making Coordinate
Strikes
The new Legio rules and maniples in Titandeath add a lot of flavor to the game. The maniples in Titandeath seem very specialized and may not see as much use as the
more generic ones provided in the Core Rules, but they open up a lot of
tactical options to players. The new
Legio rules in particular reflect the nature of the Titan Legions and are
extremely well done.
The Corsair Battlelines are a bit dangerous!!
ReplyDeleteThey definitely will be. There are probably the best one in the supplement. Not only do they pack a punch for being nothing but Battle Titans, but they have a lot of mobility through their rule. Either one can when a battle when used correctly, but firepower AND mobility in the same package makes things very interesting.
DeleteBoo no teleporting titans for astorum!?
