NOVA Open 2023 - AT 28 Event

 "Let the Titans Hit the Floor" at NOVA was an absolute blast where 19 Titans and 2 Knights Porphyrion duked it out.  A total of 10 Princeps locked horns, the Traitors just barely eeking out a win that was decided by the last possible unit that was able to shoot on the final turn.  

Princeps Shark was a major help to Shadow in preparing for the event.

Legio Hashmallim and House Chesapeake prepare for battle.

Domina Ferrea, Venator Lupus, and Natus Est Tempestas were all in attendance.

"Thunderhawk" of the Legio Vulpa, who won Legio's Pride for the best painted Titan.

Would you believe this game featured THREE betrayals?  The Fureans and Vulpa Titans both turned.

Princeps Jamie (left) won a pin badge for Best Spirit, Princeps Valen (center) won Best Player, and Princeps Selene (right) won Legio's Pride.  Congratulations everyone!

Two Lucies were in the event.

Siblings meet as the Princeps-in-Training meets the Titan it will eventually command.  That knee on the right is dad's; no Titans or babies were harmed in the making of this event.

Legions Imperialis - Epic Gaming with Your AT Minis

When speaking about Titans, normally we'd be wondering if we're actually talking about "miniatures."  After all, these are gigantic hunks of resin.

When talking about Adeptus Titanicus (AT), that's a different story.  Plastic and resin in "Epic" scale, albeit a bit different from the Epic of yore, have been what we were used to for the last several years.  Indeed, a few months ago we had conjecture about if Epic would return on an episode of Adeptus Titanicast due to the shared scale of AT and Aeronautica Imperialis (AI).

Enter Legions Imperialis (LI).  Epic has returned!

Okay, hear us out, that might be a bit of a stretch based on what we know.  However, this is effectively a reboot of Epic with a new scale and likely updated rules.  Best part, your AT and AI minis are still good to go!

Much of the information below is courtesy of Games Workshop, albeit summarized, but we're sure it'll pique your interest.  Hit the comments below to let us know if you'll be playing LI or not.

An Age of Darkness

LI is set during the Horus Heresy.  Get ready to throw the forces of the Legiones Astartes, their air support, and the might of the Collegia Titanica at one another.

Epic Scale

Legions Imperialis is ‘epic scale’, the same as AT and AI. 

General’s Eye View

Think carefully.  Your orders are issued to your whole detachment, meaning you're committed to your battleplan.  This will be reminiscent of the previous Apocalypse setup.

Non-stop Action

The activation of Detachments alternates, meaning you move or fire a Detachment, then your opponent does, and so on. You’re always in the thick of battle, adjusting plans as you go to seize advantages that present themselves.

Unrelenting War

Titans will annihilate entire squadrons of tanks in a single barrage, but air superiority can easily be a threat to them.  Tactical fighting is a must and your decisions need to count.

Conquer the Battlefield

It's all about the Objectives, meaning your troops are as important as your Titans and how you fight.

Combined Arms

Yep.  Humanity's strongest warriors coupled with tanks, air support, and the stride of Titans.  Think carefully about your force's composition.

A Weapon for Every Situation

Just as each Detachment has a role, so too do the weapons they are armed with. Assault cannons mow down infantry but can’t scratch a Titan, while Lascannons are best used against vehicles. 

Flexible Army Building

Armies in LI revolve around ‘Formations’, Horus Heresy armies with flexible options. Fight YOUR way.

Choose your Battlefield

Terrain, how it affects the battlefield, and so much more.  Did we mention you can blow buildings up?  Yep.  

Titan Owners Club and NOVA Team Up! Two Events in 2023

While our planning window hasn't officially opened, the Titan Owners Club's US Branch has already cut a sweet deal!  Tentatively, we're inked for two events at 2023's NOVA Open:

Adeptus Titanicus - Introducing the Dire Wolf

We all know about the Warhound and the Rapier classes of Scout Titan for those of us that have read the Black Library books or Adeptus Titanicus campaign books.  But have you ever heard of the Dire Wolf?  Today changes that.

Unlike its kin, this Scout Titan is designed to not only find the enemy forces, but actually take the fight to them if the situation requires it.

It's chunky, stubby, and cute in its own way.  This Titan isn't near as sleek and lithe as its Warhound cousin, but it's also an up-gunned beast in comparison.  Twin ardex defensor mega-bolters are mounted in the arms, while the carapace hardpoint has the option of taking a neutron laser or a volcano cannon.  This puppy has some bite!

And yes, Audax players, you finally get something other than the tried and true Warhound.  You'll have some harder hitting weaponry to add to your arsenal.  However, all Legios can take this new little brawler and we can't wait to see it hit the field.  What are your thoughts on the new Titan?

FEAR THE ARMIGER! Armiger Knights Coming to Adeptus Titanicus!

At many a Titan Walk there is a whisper, a phrase that strikes terror into the heart of even the boldest Warlord Princeps: “fear the Armiger.” For long have these tiny Knights, nimble, well-placed and presenting less of an immediate danger than the towering God-Engines on the horizon, punched far above their weight class and through numbers, cunning, or sheer luck dropped an avatar of the Omnissiah many times their size. And now, fresh off the presses from Warhammer Community, they are coming to Adeptus Titanicus!

Barely clearing a Warlord Titan’s toe-connector plate!

But wow are they going to be mean:

A movement speed of 11” should allow them a real shot at getting that into short range in the rear armor of some big engines and doing serious damage. This will have the poor Warmaster Titan acting like an elephant that has seen a mouse! [A little doubt there, but it will be a bit of a threat – Shadow]

Assuming, of course, that being small also means being cheap.

Because they are, reportedly, “fragile,” so we should assume you are going to need that combination of numbers, skill, and luck to keep them from being flattened outright by a Belicosa pie plate. And with the smallest bases seen so far in Titanicus, it stands to reason that they will have a harder time spreading out than other banners (although this is, admittedly, nothing more than reasonable speculation).

And more good news: They come in Mechanicum flavor too for that tasty Moirax goodness so many Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy players have come to know and love!

The news some of you may be less enthusiastic about is that all of these, Warglaives, Helverins, and all flavours of Moirax, are going to be released by Forgeworld in resin. Games Workshop’s plastic kits are so excellent that it is hard not to be a little disappointed that everything cannot be released that way, but members of the TOC are no strangers to Forge World’s products, so we should be well set to enjoy the fury of a thousand thermal spears that will soon (?) be coming to a Titanicus sized table near you!
