Behind the Scenes - Changing up Adeptus Titanicast

Adeptus Titanicast has been a podcast that we've produced for the last two years and have had quite a lot of fun doing it.  However, we want to bring you the best possible experience on it, so we've created a brief survey so we can gather your input to guide the podcast's growth.  Please take a few minutes to provide your input.

Adeptus Titanicus - Traitor Legios Review

Sorry this vid is late everyone. We wanted to do the standard in-depth blog format but we're sorely pressed for time with how late this came in and a ton of other stuff that's been going on behind the scenes.

War Zone Charadon: Book II Review - This One is Worth It

If you love having your Skitarii and Secutarii running around helping you then the new War Zone Charadon: Book of Fire is actually going to be your friend.

+1 A and Ld Vanguard and Rangers?  Yep
Bonus rules for them? Yep
New stratagems?  Yep!  And those stratagems can be used on Secutarii as well.

We'll be doing a more in-depth review of the Army of Renown later but for now we have an early review of the book on our Adeptus Titanicast Extras series.  While you wait for that review do feel free to check out the book since this will be quite useful for protecting your Titans.

Adepta Sororitas Codex Review

Princeps, you are not reading that wrong!  Games Workshop sent us a free copy of the Adepta Sororitas codex to review.  While this is outside of our normal realm how could we say no?  Sisters fight alongside the Titans quite often.  Imagine the Sisters of Battle, hymns spilling from their lips as they march alongside the Mechanicus and Titans, bringing the wrath of the Imperium to your foes!

It's a well-rounded, expanded codex that brings new lore to the Sisters, new rules, and new units including a High Lord of Terra!  That's someone worth defending.  We've nabbed some images for you and the US Branch did the in-depth review via Adeptus Titanicast.

Adeptus Mechanicus Review - List Building

Following up on the Adeputs Mechanicus review, Princeps Robert and Shadow decided it was time to build some lists themed around the Titanguard.  Secutarii certainly hit the list but these 2,000 point Titan defenders make use of the AdMech codex on the whole.  We discuss them in depth in our newest Adeptus Titanicast episode from the US Branch and our lists are below.  What's more, we want to hear how you'd do 2k of Titanguard mixing the Secutarii and AdMech codex.  Hit up the comments below.

Adeptus Titanicus - Bring your Choom (Not Your Cyberpunk Buddies)

This is most unexpected and most glorious news!  Really, we get volkite on a Titan!?!?

First introduced in the Age of Darkness (Horus Heresy) game, volkite weapons deal explosive death to your enemies by basically turning them into combustible bags of meat.  These weapons were truly horrific and were second only to rad weaponry in terms of destructive ability and cruelty.  Or, as WarCom put it:

"In simple terms, volkite weapons are heat rays. They fire beams of energy that set unprotected targets – like squishy humans – on fire. When scaled up to Titan size, they are terrifyingly effective at taking down void shields, as they superheat the protective energy barriers and pop them out of existence."

So, what can we expect?  Volkite eradicators for Warhounds and Reavers and then the volkite destructors for Warlords.

A think somewhere we just heard a Tech-Priest's heart ACTUALLY BEAT!

We were even clued in to how they'll work in game.  Volkite weapons are not great at harming Titans (though a Warhound could feel it when the fire is concentrated enough), but void shields are a completely different matter altogether.

  • Both weapon classes get three (3) dice per attack.
  • The Warhound and Reaver class volkite has a range of 20”, while the Warlord's arm weapon reaches out to 24”.
  • Both classes have Voidbreaker (2), meaning that for every hit, the target has to roll an additional 2 shield saves.

This thing will be a shield-stripper that might give even the Vulcan Mega-Bolter a serious run for its money.

Even more fun is the fact the Warlord’s volkite destructor can also be fired as a Beam (1) weapon, but this does come at the cost of using the Draining trait. The upside: potentially hitting up to three models in a single direct line of fire. However, each target has to be destroyed to allow the beam to move on to another, so this will really only be good against weakened Knights.  We don't think it's going to be used too often since it's so situational.

These will be coming out through Forge World and no release date has been given.  Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Adeptus Titanicast Update - New Playlist and Commenting Enabled

Princeps, thank you for the journey you've taken with us in 2020 as we began our first ever podcast.  In 2020 we recorded nine episodes and we're excited to say that the podcast will be back in 2021.  Currently Titanicast is hosted on Shadow's personal YouTube page and we're exploring a few options on how we wish to handle that in the future (nothing is guaranteed).  However, we still have a few things going on in the background.  Today we put all of the current Adeptus Titanicast episodes in a new playlist that you can use to just listen to while you paint or build.

Adeptus Titanicast - YouTube

Not only have we created a new playlist for you to quickly access the library of episodes, but we've enabled commenting on our videos.  Fostering discussion on the blog itself was the primary reason that we hadn't enabled comments previously, though concerns about griefers was another, but we feel it's time to add that feature after discussions with a few members who wanted to be able to speak on the channel itself.  So, with that said, feel free to comment and give your thought on video and blog alike.

Thank you, all of you, for a wonderful 2020 in the podcasting world and we look forward to bringing you more in the new year.

Adeptus Titanicast Ep.9 - End of 2020

Shadow closes out Adeptus Titanicast for 2020 with plenty of rambling but also thought and reflection.  We'll be returning to our regular schedule in 2021 and of course coming back with the usual topics, including guest appearances, tactica, and more.

Adeptus Titanicast - USA: Ep. 8 - Titan Ownership and Escapism

Our Adeptus Titanicast series returns after a "post off" with Shadow on holiday and celebrating a life milestone.  This time, our host reminiscences on the escapism the hobby affords since he's stuck indoors.  We'd certainly love to know what you think after you hear the episode, so hit up the comments below.
