Adeptus Titanicus - The Knight Porphyrion

Adeptus Titanicus: The Acastus Knight Porphyrion

Acastus Knights

Hail, brethren of the Knight Households. There’s a new class of steed coming to your games of Adeptus Titanicus. The Acastus Knight Porphyrion will be joining your Banners next week, and today we’re taking a look at these largest of Knights, which will even the odds when your brave scions face enemy Titans on the battlefield.
Acastus Knights

Acastus Knights are the heaviest class of armoured steed available to the nobles of the Knight Households. Where Cerastus Knights bring speed and close-combat skill to a Household force, Acastus Knights bring raw brute force (and some really, really big guns). They stand just slightly smaller than Warhound Scout Titans and are almost as heavily armed and armoured.*

Knight Porphyrion
One of the two major patterns of Acastus Knights, the Knight Porphyrion is notable for its pair of twin-linked magna lascannons – among the most powerful guns carried by any Knight. These are capable of devastating well-defended targets and even piercing the armour of mighty Warlord Titans.**

Using the Knight Porphyrion

Like other Knights, the Knight Porphyrion can be used as part of a Household force or as a Support Banner for your Titan Legion. They can be taken individually or in larger Banners of up to four, combining their martial skill (and those very big guns) to hunt and bring down the largest of foes. Their heavy armour is represented by an astonishing seven Structure Points and the relative difficulty of scoring a Devastating or Critical Hit on them thanks to their high Armour values – they’re almost as survivable as the larger classes of Titan!

The Acastus Knight Porphyrion generally acts as artillery support for its fellow Knights, using its powerful weapons to devastate distant targets while its nimbler brethren close on the enemy to deliver the coup de grâce in melee. In your games, the aptly named Artillery rule reflects this, increasing the Acastus Knight’s BS to 3+ if they’re issued First Fire or Split Fire orders – giving those twin magna lascannons an excellent chance of hitting with their 4 dice.
Weapons

The Strength 8 and 3″ blast of the magna lascannon will utterly annihilate Knights and lighter Titans, and can give Reavers and Warlords a metaphorical bloody nose too – especially in larger Banners within a Knight Households force, where they can use the Coordinated Strike order to increase the weapon’s Strength to a potential 12, making Devastating and Critical Hits much more likely. That’ll teach those Titan Princeps to make an enemy of the Knight Households!

The Acastus Knight Porphyrion will be available to pre-order from this Saturday, July 13th, alongside Command Terminals and a host of other new goodies for Adeptus Titanicus. While you’re waiting for them, grab a copy of Doom of Molech – which contains the rules for using full Knight armies – along with some Questoris and Cerastus Knights, and start building your Household.

* Any Household scion will tell you that the Acastus Knight is vastly superior, requiring just a single noble to pilot it, compared to the entire crew needed to wrestle a Warhound’s bellicose machine-spirit into submission.

** It helps if their void shields are down first – pair up your Porphyrion banners with some Questoris Knights to knock down the shields, and you’ll have a better than even chance against the larger war-engines.
