Behind the Scenes - We Broke It

Well, not a Titan.  We did break a Region though, and in a couple of ways.  And since this is Behind the Scenes, we're gonna move that curtain a bit so you can see what's going on and why.

When the US Branch first created its Regional structure it was to give more of its membership, YOU, the chance to engage in our official Walk Events.  Regional Clashes became a thing and attendance has definitely ticked up and people are having a blast.

But, there's kind of been an elephant in the room; namely a Texas and California sized one.

How did the two most populous states end up in the same Region?  Geography, internal politics, and staff needs.

When the Southwest Region came up it was simply being in the south and on the west side of that nice, clean north-south line that more or less follows the Mississippi River.  Easy.  Simple.  And it meant we needed one Coordinator.

At the time of its creation that was REALLY important to us as we had already blown up our staff with a big expansion so we were loathe to add too many people.  In a way, that broke the Region then and there as there were so many owners in Cali and Texas that it ensured those two States would dominate things and constantly vie for the attention of the Coordinator.  We've grown, the Club has heavily expanded, and Games Workshop has a new cafe in Cali (yes, there has been discussion about that but we can't pull the curtain back THAT far). The Cali folks are getting restless, especially once COVID impacted travel.

It's. Time. For. A. FIX!

So we broke it.  We broke the Southwest Region into the Southwest Region and Midsouth Region.  Further, due to the naming scheme, the Midwest Region has become the Midnorth Region.

We're going to see how this goes and what changes it could lead to in the future.  Word is Louisiana and Arkansas may jump ship to the Midsouth Region due to them already having a closer relationship to their Texas cousins than the rest of their own natural Region.
