Titan Owners Club were kept informed of the progress whilst in build and by special permission, it has been granted Club Membership - Forge World do not make Imperator Titans and usually we do not accept scratchbuild titans or 3D Printed titans as the Club was formed "for owners of official Forge World Battle Engines to share their projects and works for the Titan loving community to see" but due to the fact this is designed from scratch not stealing GW IP or purchased 3D prints from CAD designed from AT models like some 3D Printed Imperators out there - this was a labour of love and hobby and we are glad to welcome it onboard!
Despite being such a well known and powerful image from the original Titan Legions game and the Horus Heresy book series, there's surprisingly few official descriptions or detailed pictures of the Imperator titan. I used a selection of images pulled together from these sources to help inform my own designs for this monstrous engine of war!
My intention was to merge the original epic scale Imperator design with the more recent Forgeworld aesthetic. To this end, I incorporated familiar structural shapes, symbols and design accents throughout the model while still trying to maintain the proportions and flavour of the original model.
The majority of Imperator scratch builds that I've seen in the past have fallen short of the mark as they've lost sight of what makes it an Imperator, not just another giant robot. You may disagree, but I feel I really captured the essence of the design with my interpretation while maintaining the level of quality only seen in professionally designed Forgeworld kits!
The silhouette and proportions of Ira Metallum remain very close to the original epic scale model, requiring months of design work even before construction began back in 2019.Please feel free to follow me on Instagram @goddenzilla or read about my projects in more detail over on my hobby blog: Kaiju Country
If you are yourself building an Imperator Titan and wish to be considered for invitation to a Titan Owners Club event and Registration here, please contact the Admin team (by using How to Join email) throughout the build process and we can give you advice to help meet the required aesthetic/scale/construction standard to meet.
See tomorrow for Part 2 - The Construction
